Switching Energy Suppliers

Energyhelpline.com has reported that according to research carried out by Citizens Advice – the public advice agency – the number of people in Britain becoming concerned about their fuel debts is on the increase – whereby the number of enquires has risen by 53% as at the end of June 2009, compared to the same period last year – and this is leading to many consumers switching their gas and electricity supply to a cheaper energy provider.

David Harker, chief executive of Citizens Advice said that the bureaux works with clients are either in fuel debt or have other concerns regarding energy bills on a daily basis and by offering advice and ensuring that they know how to save money in relation to switching energy suppliers eases peoples worries and can make the whole process of switching suppliers a lot less daunting

Ofgem the UK’s Gas and Electricity regulator last month advised that Britain’s big six energy suppliers including British Gas, npower, EDF and E.ON have spent £157 million on voluntary social programmes in a bid to help reduce the number of consumers who are fuel poor.
