Scottish Ministers Urged to Upgrade Power Line

Scottish Energy minister, Jim Mather, is being asked to give the go-ahead to plans to upgrade the Beauly to Denny power line before the climate change summit in Copenhagen, reports The Press and Journal.

By giving the project the go-ahead it would enable electricity generated from wind and tidal power to be connected to the National Grid. The Scottish and Southern power line will cost £700million and it’s argued that if the project isn’t given the go-ahead then there would be severe constraints on the development of renewables and could mean that millions of pounds in investments could be lost.
