REpower Systems Installs German Turbine
The first of six 5MW turbines has been installed by Repower Systems AG at the alpha ventus offshore test field, reports Renewable Energy World.com. This is the first German offshore project and it’s being built by a consortium made up of EWE, E.ON and Vattenfall.
The rest of the turbines are due to be lifted into place by the end of the year. In fact the Offshore Director of Repower Systems said they expect the first turbine will generate electricity towards the end of the fourth quarter of the year.
Once they are all up and running they each of the turbines should produce 18 million kWh of power each year.
