Monthly Energy Bills from E.ON
E.ON, one of the UK’s leading integrated power and gas companies, generating and distributing electricity, and retailing power and gas, has announced that brand new customers, who pay for their gas and electric by cash or cheque instead of setting up a direct debit, will have to pay their bill every month from now on, reports energychoices.co.uk.
The energy company has stipulated that all new customers who don’t pay by direct debit will now have to pay their bills on a monthly, rather than a quarterly basis.
As a German-owned energy supplier E.ON believes that this new system will in fact help customers to manage their energy bills more effectively, and aims to help them to budget more easily with smaller, more regular bills.
Around 40% of E.ONs customers pay by cash or cheque rather than have a direct debit payment method set up, however, this new payment plan is likely to force a large portion of E.ON’s customers into paying by direct debit even though there are no plans to change billing methods for existing customers.
