BBC News Online reports that Intel and Microsoft say the new Windows 7 operating system will mean a longer battery life and boot up times will be faster.

Microsoft is hoping that the new operating system (OS) will receive positive publicity rather than the negative publicity that Vista received when it was launched just a few years ago. Both Intel and Microsoft have said that they worked closely on the new system and are “proud” of the product.

A press launch in San Francisco gave Microsoft the opportunity to show off the improvements made since Windows XP and Vista. The improvements include improved energy efficiency, security, performance and responsiveness.
