Households Can’t Be Bothered To Insulate Homes & Cut Energy Bills
Research from E.ON suggests that households are not benefitting from energy efficiency savings because they can’t be bothered to insulate their lofts or cavity walls.
The research from E.ON seems to suggest that many people can’t be bothered to insulate their homes while other excuses for not improving energy efficiency in the home include having too much clutter in the loft, not having a ladder and not knowing how to do it.
E.ON’s insulation experts have estimated that the average home can reduce their energy bills by as much as £390 a year if they insulated their loft and cavity walls. But the E.ON research seemed to suggest that over 50% of the UK were unaware of how much money they could save by insulating their home.
As both domestic and business electricity prices increase it seems surprising that homeowners and even businesses don’t carry out simple measures to increase energy efficiency and reduce the amount of energy lost from their premises.
As many as 17% of those completing the survey said they couldn’t afford to insulate their home.
Energy Fitness Instructor at E.ON, Kevin Bryant, said “When we feel the cold, it’s very tempting to turn on or turn up the heating, but there are other long-term solutions which can make a big difference and help you save money on your bills”.
He added, “With a quarter of heat lost through uninsulated roofs and a third through uninsulated walls, installing cavity wall or loft insulation is one the best long-term approaches you can make to getting your home more energy fit. It’s easy. Just give us a call and we’ll make sure everything is taken care of from measuring up to the installation itself”.
It may seem surprising but insulating your loft can not only help to keep your property warmer in the winter but it can also help to keep your home cooler during the summer.
