High Business Electricity Prices See Christmas Energy Bills Increase
Business electricity prices have increased this year and while Christmas is a time of giving and receiving presents, some businesses also receive a big energy bill as electricity usage increases.
Christmas is at the darkest time of the year and as a result everyone uses more electricity and costs increase. It may seem a difficult thing to do but it’s important to try to save energy and therefore business costs at Christmas time especially when business electricity prices have increased.
Most offices are closed for at least a couple of days over the Christmas period so one of the most important things to remember is to ensure computers and monitors are turned off before everyone leaves the building for Christmas. Computers on stand-by over the Christmas holiday period will use enough energy to create enough CO2 emissions to fill three inflatable garden Santas.
If there’s no-one in the office at all over the festive period then switch off the hot water. If you leave it on for the whole time you’re off it may use enough energy to generate 240kg of CO2 and increase your business electricity bill needlessly.
Festive lights are nice to look at but before you leave the office for the Christmas break ensure they are switched off. Also make sure that all office lights, desk lights and display lights are turned off. Not only will these actions help to reduce your business electricity costs but decorative lights are a fire hazard so turning them off will help to cut the risk of fire.
If your office has any items at all that are often left on stand-by, make sure they are turned off before you leave for Christmas. For example, turn off the TV, lap tops, photocopiers and printers. Even on powersave a photocopier can be using 90% of the regular standing energy consumption.
Don’t forget to turn off any free standing electric radiators. Heaters can generate the equivalent of 77 inflatable Santa’s worth of CO2 and are very expensive to run.
Everyone has seen business electricity prices increase this year and at Christmas time business energy costs increase. However, by following a few simple steps it’s possible to reduce the cost of Christmas in the office and cut those business energy bills.
