Utility Exchange reported back in August that Good Energy had started to replace the turbines at the first commercial British wind farm which was built in 1991. The ten turbines at Delabole Wind Farm in Cornwall have been replaced by just four.

The new turbines are twice the height of the old ones and will generate around 2.5 times the energy. The first of these new turbines have now been switched on and by the end of the year the wind farm should be generating 9.2MW of renewable electricity. This should be enough to provide power for around 7,800 homes.

But don’t worry – the old turbines are not going to waste. They are being sent to Lithuania where they will be used to generate a source of renewable energy.
