Mission One has become the fastest electric-powered vehicle, reports dailymail.co.uk. The electric superbike broke the land speed record when it reached 150.059mph.

Mission One, which has zero-emissions, actually reached 161 mph at one point but the record is the average speed of two runs.

The electric bike will be sold next year for £42,000. Its power comes from a 240 volt battery which takes 2 hours to charge.

Mission Motors who make the bike are based in San Francisco and they hope to sell 300 bikes in 2010.
