EDF To Sell Another Share Of British Energy
The telegraph.co.uk reports that EDF, the French power generator, is looking to sell around 20% of British Energy. The news comes after a report in the French newspaper, La Tribune.
EDF have already sold off 20% of the nuclear power generator but it looks like they are considering getting rid of another 20% for around £4.5bn. This would mean that EDF would control the majority of British Energy but it would mean that the UK market would be opened up to more competition.
EDF is to also sell off its UK electricity distribution network for around 3bn euros. It’s thought that the sale process is already going ahead.
EDF have not commented on the report that they are to sell another share in British Energy. Only last year they sold 20% to Centrica for 2.5bn euros.
