E.ON Claims Cheapest Winter Tariff

Utility E.ON, one of Britain’s biggest gas and electricity suppliers – launches new tariff – claiming the energy company will offer the cheapest gas prices this winter. E.ON is guaranteeing their new tariff – WinterGas – will provide cheaper gas than any of the “big six” energy suppliers’ standard gas tariffs, however many online tariffs will provide cheaper gas this winter, reports energychoices.co.uk.

Claiming to be cheaper than rivals including British Gas, npower and EDF Energy, the new WinterGas tariff actually does not rank as high in the best buy tables compared to online accounts, stated an analyst at Energychoices.co.uk’s comparison partner Energylinx.

After investigating the price, the analyst commented that although E.ON is guaranteeing WinterGas will offer the cheapest gas bills this winter compared to other major suppliers’ standard plans, the information is only correct when comparing standard gas prices. Analysis indicates that WinterGas does not rank as high in the best buy tables when compared to online accounts.

E.ON suggests that its new tariff will save the average household £77 per year, compared to the average UK standard gas bill. WinterGas is available as a dual fuel or gas-only deal, to both new and existing E.ON customers.
