Businesses are still failing to search for the cheapest business electricity and gas deals, according to Conway Standing, managing director of commercial energy broker, Utility Exchange.
In the Derby Telegraph, Mr Standing suggests many business owners still don’t take the time to see how much money they could save on their business energy bills.
He says many business owners simply renew their existing business energy contract without looking for alternatives and many believe they are in the best position to negotiate business energy deals with energy companies. However, they may be better off contacting a commercial energy broker which may be able to get them a better deal.
Mr Standing says 250,000 business energy contracts are up for renewal each month but only 40,000 of those switch to a cheaper supplier. This means that the rest simply roll over onto a higher priced contract – possibly for a fixed period of time.
It’s important to check if you could get cheaper energy prices at a time when prices in the U.K. have increased by 16.7% in the last year – compared with a rise of only 3.8% across the European Union.
Mr Standing says it’s free to change supplier and using a broker means you don’t have to spend hours yourself searching for cheaper electricity prices. Let them do the hard work so that you can concentrate on your business.
