According to an issued press release – BT, one of the largest communication companies in the world, has announced a three-year agreement to provide and operate the international data network for Siemens Enterprise Communications – SEN. The signed contract relates to more than 230 SEN locations in a total of 45 countries.

The convergent network solution is based on BT’s MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) technology, and will enable SEN to handle all its data communications on a single platform which will subsequently reduce its networking costs by around 30%.

The agreement between BT and Siemens also includes Internet connectivity whereby 10,000 users will utilise BT’s MobileXpress solution enabling employees to access the companies corporate network whilst out on the road or at home – and the management of firewalls and e-mail services has also been included in the agreement of services.

BT is the UKs dominant fixed line telecommunications and broadband Internet provider and also operates in more than 170 countries around the world.
