Areva, the world-leading company in nuclear energy which offers customers reliable technological solutions for CO2-free power generation and electricity transmission, has announced winning a 400 million dollar (275 million euro) contract to build the world’s longest high voltage electricity line to go across Brazil.
According to the French energy giant, this new transmission link will stretch over 2,375 kilometres (1,500 miles) starting from the Madeira hydroelectric complex in the northwest of the country to the energy-hungry metropolis of Sao Paulo in the southeast.
The energy company is expecting to be operational in April 2013.
