Breaking News – Apple iPhone Makes The Headlines

The Apple iPhone came to the rescue of a BBC News report yesterday, reports The Daily Telegraph. The BBC’s computer and telephone system crashed just as the Radio 3 news reader was due on air and she had to read the news from her iPhone.

The incident happened early yesterday morning when Alison Rooper was due to read the 7 a.m. news. All across the BBC the phones went down along with the computers. At 6.45 a.m. there was no script. The only way to get the script to her was by email but as the computers were down this was impossible – so the only other solution was for the script to be sent to her iPhone.

She said “The words were reasonably clear on my iPhone screen,” she said. “But I tried tipping the phone sideways so that the writing becomes bigger and then I lost the whole sentence. You need to read ahead all the time when you are reading out news. I had to tip it back to the right position and just scroll through very quickly with my finger, hoping to God I didn’t do something accidentally.”
