Business Energy Education

Codework provides a vital source of innovative tools to help I.T. managers and Network administrators automate, improve and manage their systems – and according to them – using the right software and providing better education to businesses could help firms update their energy practices and consequently cut their gas and electricity bills by 50%.

The software services company discovered that businesses who are using roughly 100 computers, spends approximately £4,500 a year on energy bills, and, although IT systems are often switched on for almost 20 hours a day, they are actually only used for half of this time.

So – just by using computer systems more efficiently and switching off whenever they are not being used – energy bills could be reduced to less than £2,100 per year.

Bhav Lakhani, operations director at Codework, commented on their results and said that the study showed that in the current economic climate one of the most effective ways for companies to make significant savings is by reducing their energy costs.

In addition, specialised software such as CurrentWare’s AccessPatrol can be used to automate energy-saving techniques within IT systems.

Businesses are being urged to review their energy practices, some already turn off non-essential electrical equipment during evenings and weekends, where ordinarily these would have remained switched on, and, specialised software like CurrentWare’s AccessPatrol can also be used to automate energy-saving techniques within IT systems.
